Can I create a second macOS installation on my internal drive that can run SoftRAID, without affecting my main macOS System?

MacOS APFS volumes have a special feature where you can create additional volumes that share the same space on your disk but are independent. This new bootable volume may take up as little as 30GB of space on your disk.

This makes it useful for setting up a volume to “manage” your main system. However, with Apple silicon computers, there are some additional required steps before you can install third-party drivers like SoftRAID. We have created the video below to assist you through this process.

The key step is after you install macOS, you must set startup to your prior system, then set startup to the new volume. This allows MacOS to reduce the security on your new volume.
